Scene outliner toolbar

The toolbar sits under the Scene header. It creates primitives, filters the tree, and renames scene objects in bulk.

Controls

  • + – Opens a menu of parametric primitives: Box, Sphere, Cylinder, Cone, Plane, and Torus. The new object is a child of the current selection, or a new root in the scene when nothing is selected. Default size is 1×1×1. Edit the dimensions later in the floating Selected window, under Parametric.

  • Search – Filters the tree by name. A plain word matches any name that contains it, ignoring case. * matches any text and ? matches one character. A pattern that uses either wildcard must match the whole name. Matching scene objects stay visible together with their ancestors. Document titles, folder names, file names, sketch names, contour names, arrangement names, sequence names, and step names are included. A folder opens when something inside it matches.

  • × – Clears the search and restores the tree. Shown only while the search field has text.

  • ✔ – Adds every scene object that matches the search to the current selection. Shown only while the search field has text. Documents, files, and sketches are not selected by this button.

  • ✎ Bulk rename – Renames scene objects. With a search active, only the matching objects are renamed. With the search empty, every scene object is included. Documents, files, and sketches are not renamed here.

Bulk rename

  • Find & Replace – Replaces text in each name. Turn on regexp to use a regular expression. In a regular-expression replacement, $1, $2, … insert capture groups.

  • Presets – remove _N, remove N_, remove (…), _ → space, space → _, dup. spaces, and trim.

  • Full Rename – Sets one new name for every included object. {n} inserts a number that counts from 1.
