Docs Panel

The Docs panel manages rich-text documents that are embedded directly in the GLB file alongside the 3D model. Documents are created and edited with the TipTap editor and support formatted text, images, tables, and links.

Open as

At the top of the Docs panel, the Open as dropdown chooses how documents are displayed when opened. The choice is saved in the browser and applies to the next document you open (and to an already open document immediately).

  • Side-by-side (default) – The document opens in a panel docked on the right (~45% width). The 3D viewport on the left stays fully interactive — you can orbit, select, and measure while reading or editing the document. The BG and 🖱 3D header controls are hidden in this mode because they are not needed. Drag the vertical splitter on the left edge of the document panel to resize its width (280 px–90% of the viewport) in both view and edit mode; the width is remembered in the browser.

  • Fullscreen – The document covers the entire viewport (previous behaviour). In view mode, use the BG slider to see the model behind the document, or 🖱 3D to orbit through the overlay. In edit mode, 3D interaction is blocked until you save or close.

On narrow screens (≤768 px), documents always open fullscreen regardless of this setting.

Panel Buttons

  • + New document – Creates a new blank document at the root of the Docs tree. Click the document to open it.

  • + New folder – Creates a folder at the root of the Docs tree. Folders can be nested; each folder has its own New document, New folder, Rename folder, and Delete folder actions. Deleting a folder permanently deletes all documents and subfolders inside after a confirmation prompt.

  • ⬆ Import JSON – Imports a previously exported .docs.json file as a new document at the root (folder placement is not stored in JSON).

  • The panel lists the same folder tree as the Scene outliner. Nested folders appear as collapsible groups; each document is a button. Clicking a document opens it in view mode. The label shows the File name (falling back to Title if File is empty) and optionally the last-edited or import date (configurable in View → Preferences → Document Name).

  • To move an existing document into a folder, drag it in the Scene outliner. The Docs panel does not support drag-and-drop.

Document Overlay

When a document is opened, it appears either as a side panel (Side-by-side) or as a full-screen overlay (Fullscreen) on top of the 3D viewport.

The header has two rows: the top row shows the TOC toggle (when available) and action buttons (Edit, Save, Print, exports, Delete, Close); the second row shows the document title and layout controls (Font, LH, PS, W, table borders, and in Fullscreen also BG and 3D).

Table of Contents

The TOC sidebar is generated automatically from all H1–H4 headings in the document. It appears on the left side of the overlay when at least two headings are present. Clicking a TOC entry smoothly scrolls the document to that heading and highlights the active section as you scroll.
