Files Panel

The Files panel manages binary file attachments embedded directly in the GLB file. Attachments travel with the model when it is saved and exported, so collaborators receive all supporting files in a single .glb.

Supported attachment types include images (PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF, SVG…), PDFs, office documents, archives, and any other binary file.

Folders

Files can be organized into nested folders, the same way documents are. Use + Add folder… to import a directory from disk (nested folders are preserved), or + New folder to create an empty folder at the panel root or inside an existing folder. Each folder can add files, add a folder from disk, paste or create an image, create a subfolder, rename itself, or delete itself (deleting a folder also deletes its contents after confirmation).

To move an existing file or folder into another folder, drag it in the Scene outliner. The Files panel shows the same tree. Folder layout is saved in the GLB with the attachments. Downloading all as ZIP preserves folder paths.

Panel Buttons

  • + Add files… – Opens a file picker that allows multiple files to be selected at once. If a file with the same name already exists, you are prompted to replace it.

  • 📋 Paste image… – Reads an image from the system clipboard and adds it as an attachment. Useful for quick screenshots.

  • 🖼 New image… – Creates a new blank canvas image that can be drawn on with the built-in image editor.

  • + New folder – Creates a new folder at the panel root. Nested folders are created from inside an existing folder.

  • ⬇ Download all as ZIP – Packages all attachments into a single ZIP archive and downloads it, using folder paths when files are organized into folders. Shown only when at least one attachment is present.

  • ↗ Open all viewable… – Opens every browser-viewable attachment (images, PDFs, text, video, audio) in separate floating preview windows. After the windows appear, you are offered the option to automatically arrange them as a tile. Shown only when at least one viewable attachment is present.

  • ✏ Edit all images… – Opens the built-in image editor for every image attachment simultaneously. After the windows appear, you are offered the option to automatically arrange them as a tile. Shown only when at least one image attachment is present.

Per-Attachment Folder

Each attachment is listed as a collapsible folder named filename (size). If the attachment has a comment, a 💬 prefix is shown. The folder contains the following actions:

  • ↑ Move up / ↓ Move down – Change this file's position among siblings in the same folder. Shown at the top of the folder when two or more attachments are present in that folder; the first file has no Move up, the last has no Move down. Order is preserved when exporting the GLB or downloading a ZIP.

  • ↗ Open – Opens the file in a floating preview window inside the app. Multiple files can be open at the same time, each in its own window. Available for any file type the browser can display directly: raster images (PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF, SVG), PDFs, plain text files, video, and audio. For other types (ZIP, DOCX, XLSX, etc.) use ⬇ Download instead and open locally. Clicking ↗ Open on a file that is already open focuses the existing window.

  • ✏ Edit – Opens the built-in image editor for this attachment (available for image files only — PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF). See the Image Editor section below for a full description of available tools.

  • ✏ Edit PDF… – Opens selected PDF pages in the image editor, then lets you export the changes back into the PDF. Edited pages are stored as images inside the PDF; other pages stay unchanged. Available for PDF attachments only.

  • 📄 Manage PDF pages… – Opens a page manager to reorder, delete, or insert pages (blank page, image file, image from Files, or pages from another PDF). Save overwrites the original or creates a new PDF attachment. Available for PDF attachments only.

  • 🖼 Convert to images… – Renders each PDF page to a separate PNG or JPG attachment. Available for PDF attachments only.

  • ⬇ Download – Downloads the file to your local disk.

  • ✕ Delete – Removes the attachment from the scene permanently.

PDF Editing

PDF attachments can be edited without leaving the app:

  1. Click ✏ Edit PDF… in the attachment folder or ✏ Edit PDF in the file preview window title bar.

  2. Choose which pages to edit (all, a single page, or ranges such as 1, 3-5).

  3. Choose render quality (PNG/JPG, scale or DPI) — same options as Convert to images.

  4. Edit each page in the image editor (draw, text, crop, etc.).

  5. After saving a page, confirm export back to PDF — overwrite the original or save as a new PDF file.

Important: edited pages are rasterized. Text on those pages can no longer be copied or searched. Unedited pages keep their original vector content.

PDF Page Management

Structural changes to PDF attachments (page order, deletion, insertion) are separate from content editing:

  1. Click 📄 Manage PDF pages… in the attachment folder or 📄 Pages in the file preview window title bar.

  2. Drag page thumbnails to reorder, or use the ↑ / ↓ buttons on each card.

  3. Click ✕ on a card to delete a page (at least one page must remain).

  4. Click a page card to select where new pages will be inserted (after the selected page).

  5. Use + Blank page, + Image file, + From Files, or + From PDF to add pages.

  6. Click Save — overwrite the original PDF or save as a new file (name-pages-edited.pdf).

Pages added from another PDF keep their vector content. Image pages are scaled to fit the reference page size. Use ✏ Edit PDF… separately if you need to draw or annotate page content.

Using Attachments in Documents

Images stored in the Files panel can be inserted directly into any Docs panel document without re-uploading. In the document editor toolbar, use 📎🖼 Insert image from Files to open a thumbnail picker and select the image.

Storage Notes

  • Attachments are stored inside the GLB file's userData as Base64-encoded binary data. Large attachments significantly increase the GLB file size.

  • When saving or exporting a GLB, attachments can be gzip-compressed (lossless) to reduce file size. Enable or disable this under View → Preferences → Attachments Compression. The size shown in the Files panel is always the original uncompressed file size. Older GLB files without compression continue to work.

  • Gzip helps most with PDFs, office documents, plain text, and other uncompressed formats. Already-compressed formats (JPG, ZIP, etc.) may save little or nothing; files below the minimum size threshold are stored uncompressed.

  • The Files panel is cleared when Edit → Clear scene. Keep docs + files is not used — a plain scene clear removes attachments. Use that action if you want to reload a model while keeping your files.
